Writer, presenter and media producer Daniel Rey explores seven giants of the arts, sciences and politics connected with Stanford University. Joined by Stanford professors, bestselling authors, prize-winning writers, and even friends of the figures themselves, Daniel and his guests discuss their contribution to the history of a fascinating century. Not only that, with the help of personal reminiscences and archival audio, Stanford and the Twentieth Century re-examines and brings to life the amazing stories of seven people who shaped our global present.
Daniel Rey has researched documentaries for the BBC, Channel Four and PBS. His written work has been published in the New Statesman, the Spectator, Prospect, History Today and BBC World Histories. In 2017, he won the runner-up award in the Bodley Head & Financial Times essay prize.
Daniel moved to Stanford in 2017 to accompany his wife, who was studying for her Masters’ degrees at the university. Eager to learn more about the Stanford’s history before its leading role in the technology boom, he decided to produce this series.
